Health Reasons to Eat Avocado Oil


Up until my mom starts buying avocado oil, I did not know this oil actually exist.  Like avocado, this oil has many health benefits as well:

1) Fight Free Radicals and Stop Oxidation – Avocado oil contains twice the chlorophyll-a and ten times the cholorphyll-b as olive oil. Chlorophyll is a green pigment with powerful detoxifying and cancer-fighting properties. Chlorophyll binds to carcinogens, preventing them from damaging DNA. Chlorophyll also boosts the body’s cancer-fighting enzymes.

2) Prevent heart disease – Avocado oil is rich in healthy monosaturated fat, which can help lower the levels of bad (LDL) cholesterol in your blood and decrease risk for cardiovascular disease.

3) Improve skin condition – Avocado oil contains 25% more vitamin E than olive oil. Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant that intercepts free radicals and prevents them from entering and damaging the cell.  In addition, vitamin E help boost immunity and promote healthy skin.

Despite the health benefits, avocado oil is still not commonly used.  I guess it is because of the price (one bottle of avocado oil cost more than $10) and there are alternatives to avocado oil such as extra virgin olive oil.

Currently my mom usually use avocado oil to cook vegetable because avocado oil can be safely heated up to 500F unlike extra virgin olive oil. I am going to make a salad using avocado oil (recipe will follow).
