Health Facts Monday – Calories Face-Off: Domino’s Pizza vs Pizza Hut

I never had Domino’s Pizza because I heard their pizzas are very disgusting.  Also, I saw how their pizzas were made on Youtube and the process did not look appetizing AT ALL.   I guess the price says everything about the quality of their food.

I am also guessing Pizza Hut’s food are healthier than Domino’s Pizza’s because Pizza Hut’s food taste very delicious.  But am I right? Let’s take a look.

OKAY! This is also shocking to me because Domino’s Pizza’s pizzas are healthier than Pizza Hut’s.

Despite this, I don’t think I will ever buy pizzas from Domino’s Pizza JUST because of how the pizzas are made.  What do you think? Post your comments below! Till next time!

Bonus Healthy Recipe: Herby Chicken Burger (2 Burgers)

I have cravings for burgers again, so I made my family and I chicken burgers for lunch while we were watching The World Cup.

I am using red cabbage again solely for the colour. Here was how I made it:

1 chicken cutlet, separate into two pieces

4 slices of tomato

three red cabbage leaves, shredded

4 tablespoons parsley, minced

1 teaspoon thyme, minced

2 teaspoon rosemary, minced

1/2 cup low fat mayonnaise

2 whole wheat hamburger buns

salt and pepper to taste

1) Mix rosemary, thyme, parsley and mayonnaise together.  Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.

2) Heat pan over medium heat.  Season chicken breast with salt, pepper and olive oil.  Cook each side of the chicken for at least 3 minutes. Set aside when chickens are cooked.

3) Toast burger buns on the same pan over low heat until toasted.

4) Mix a few tablespoons of herb mayonnaise with shredded red cabbage. Set aside.

5) Spread top and bottom burger buns with a bit of herb mayonnaise.  Put chicken on top of bottom bun, then two slices of tomatoes on top of chicken, then red cabbage on top of tomatoes, then top bun on top of red cabbage.  Serve when ready.

OMG! My whole family loves this burger, but my mom suggested me to shred the red cabbage even finer because it is still quite hard to chew.

Also, I think I should use a bigger and thicker piece of chicken breast next time.  I just wish I know how to butcher a whole chicken so I could get a bigger piece of chicken breast in a cheaper price.

Bonus Healthy Recipe: Earl Grey Banana Smoothies (2 Servings)

Today, I tried making smoothies using one of my favourite tea, Earl Grey.

I figured not a lot of people use black tea to make smoothies, so this recipe would be great for people who want to try sometime new.

Here was how I did it:

1 cup Earl Grey tea (I used one tea bag and one cup of hot water to brew the tea)

1 banana, broke into small pieces

1/2 cup crushed ice

1 teaspoon ginger powder

1 teaspoon cardamom

1 teaspoon clove

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/3 cup Greek yogurt

1) Put everything in the blender.  Blend until smooth.

2) Serve when ready.

I thought this smoothies would be very creamy with the addition of yogurt, but I guess the crushed ice diluted everything.

I also tasted more of the banana and spices than the tea.

Moreover, this smoothies did not taste sweet at all.  Therefore, you probably should add brown sugar if you want your smoothies to taste sweeter.

Overall, I think this smoothies tasted alright, but there are rooms for improvement.

Bonus Healthy Recipe: Chamomile Apricot Smoothies (2 Servings)

Chamomile tea is a herbal tea with amazing health benefits such as protects and fight your skin from radical damage, acne and breakouts, relaxes muscles of the uterus and gives relief from menstrual camps and helps to sleep.

Chamomile tea is also very cheap and tastes good.  That is why I thought chamomile tea would be awesome for smoothies.

Here was how I made it:

1 cup charmomile tea (I used two tea bags and 1 cup of hot water)

5 apricots, seeded and cubed

1 banana, broken into pieces

3 tablespoons flax seed

1 cup of crushed ice

1) Put every ingredient in the blender.  Blend until smooth.

2) Serve when ready.

This is probably the best smoothies I have made so far! I tasted mostly banana with a bit of the apricot and chamomile tea.

You could always add honey if you like your smoothie to taste sweeter.

You also can try to remove the skin of the apricots if you think the skin would give a rough texture to the smoothies.  But having the skin on was fine with me as I blended my smoothies until it was completely smooth.

Fitness Tuesday: Why Is Everyone Obsessed With American Football?

NFL season is going to start in a few months.  Every year, millions of Americans would travel to their local stadiums or sit near their TVs to watch their favourite teams play. Even Canadians would buy tickets online and travel miles just to catch a glimpse of their favorite players.

But what makes American football so popular? Is it because of the adrenaline rush? Is it because of the excitement?  Let’s take a look:

1) There is no team domination – In the NBA, MLB or NHL where people are able to make good bets on which team is going to be win the Cup, you are not able to predict which team is going to win the Super Bowl in the NFL.  Due to the constant changes in the roster every season and the many offensive and defensive strategies, a team who was at the bottom last year may become one of Super Bowl contenders the following year.  This is what makes NFL games so exciting just like NCAA basketball.

2) The adrenaline rush is awesome – I think most people watch football just to see how players go very aggressive on each other just to chase a football.  You could also feel the players’ willingness to win and their fearlessness of getting injured.  In addition, people love to see how players cope when playing in cold weather. NFL is basically, in my point of view, the modern day Gladiator.

3) My idol plays American football – Many African-Americans grow up poor and they depend on athletics to change their lives around.  Since NFL players are predominantly African-Americans, therefore many young African-Americans who watch NHL games aspire to become one of their idols one day.

4) It signifies the American culture – Unlike basketball, hockey and soccer that are played around the world, American football is only played in America.  Rugby is similar, but it is very different than American football when you watch a rugby game closely.  That is why there is some kind of pride in Americans when it comes to American football and NFL.

5) American football is not just a game – American football is not just a sport, it is an entertainment.  You get to watch the pretty cheerleaders and skillful band players who are supporting their team.  Also, people get to see their favourite stars during half-time of the Super Bowl game such as Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars.  Entertainment is one of the things that draw people to watch American football.
